In 2008, Peace X Peace won one of NPower’s Annual Technology Innovation Awards, for their Global Network platform. Their prize included a comprehensive assessment of their technology conducted by NPower. The assessment identified several areas where improvements were needed and provided detailed and actionable recommendations.

Challenge

Peace X Peace (pronounced Peace by Peace) provides a means for women around the world to work together to create world peace using  a cutting-edge social networking platform called the Peace X Peace Global Network. Over the years, Peace X Peace had invested substantial resources in this exciting tool, yet they had not made the same investment in their basic office technology infrastructure. As a result, they had outdated computers and a server in need of an upgrade. In addition, their member database and web content management system were not fully compatible with the organization’s flagship social networking platform. The results were a frustrated staff and the inability to make full use of the powerful tools they had developed.

Solution

In 2008, Peace X Peace won one of NPower’s Annual Technology Innovation Awards, for their Global Network platform. Their prize included a comprehensive assessment of their technology conducted by NPower’s experienced staff and underwritten by Accenture, plus a grant of up to $25,000 in Microsoft software.

NPower’s assessment identified several areas where improvements were needed and provided detailed and actionable recommendations. Peace X Peace was able to fund many of the upgrades to their hardware by switching to NPower ON!, NPower’s high-quality remote management service. Through NPower’s unique approach to technology deployment, the overall cost of this project was substantially less than what other vendors could have provided to Peace X Peace.

In addition to providing hands on tech support, NPower now serves as a strategic technology consultant to Peace X Peace regarding their member database and web content manager. NPower’s staff provides guidance on vendor selection and management. Equally important, NPower supports the Executive Director and staff by educating them on best technology practices to make them more self-reliant.  

Impact

The results of this project were immediately noticeable. As an NPower ON! client, Peace X Peace saw an immediate decrease in their recurring monthly costs for support, and in the months since the completion of their infrastructure project, Peace X Peace’s technical support needs have actually decreased while staff has become more productive.

Working with NPower has “made all the difference in the world,” said Dr. Patricia T. Morris, Executive Director of Peace X Peace. “Instead of someone’s computer breaking down every week, we have computers that are reliable and efficient. Our systems are running faster thus reducing the amount of time spent on each project. Staff members are happier because our technology systems and tools are working together. Dependable hardware and software enables us to spend more time connecting with members and providing services.” Morris also affirmed, “Because of NPower’s guidance, Peace X Peace will soon roll out new and improved functionality of our social networking platform, allowing our members to have a richer, more user-friendly experience.”
